Here's something kind of crazy. This pavé cable link bracelet, pavé-ball cuff, and pavé-ball ring all look like they came from a set, but in fact they came from three different places. The bracelet, a birthday gift from my mom, is from J. Crew, the cuff is from Anthropologie, and the ring is from Target. How strange. Some manufacturer must have been producing pavé this year, and all they brands ordered some.
Now, about the dress. Some might say that a giant anchor appliqué on a striped dress is pushing nautical too far, but I think -- as long as the accessories aren't also nautical -- it's just enough. Boat shoes or espadrilles might have been too much, and an anchor necklace certainly would have been. (More on how to not overdo nautical here.)
I like to have a bit of a since of humor with my clothes. It's why I'm so often drawn to whimsical prints and details in the first place, and this bulldog brooch definitely fits the bill. I'm quite sure it's meant to show some Yale spirit, so it's preppy but with a wink. I like that.
